Run yo race!

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to resist your growth? Why they get uncomfortable when you start reaching for more? The truth is, folk can only give you what they have—and if they’re stuck, they’ll try to keep you stuck too. But you weren’t created to stay small. You were called to break barriers. Let’s talk about why it’s critical to keep running yo race, no matter who doesn’t understand.

Folk can only give you what they have.

If they are miserable, they want you to be miserable.

If they are broke, they want you to be broke.

If they’re out of shape, they want you to be out of shape.

Do you see that? That’s their capacity! Who are we to demand more of them? Let them stay there.

It took me years to understand this: how can folk give you what they don’t even own?! They don’t have the capacity.

You can meet them and love them where they are, but don’t you dare live there. Give them something to look at—something to aspire to reach.

Too often, we play it safe and small so mama ’nem can relate to us and accept us. But here’s the truth: God created you to be the breaker in your family. You are the Joseph.

Here are a few other breakers:

Harriet Tubman had to leave her family to free her family.

Joseph had to leave his family to save his family.

Abraham had to leave his family to build his family.

There’s a pattern here—and it’s one you can’t ignore. You can’t stay and break free at the same time.

You can’t be afraid of gossip, insults, or rejection. Jesus told us it would be so. Don’t waste your time looking for pats on the back, help, or encouragement. Do like David—encourage yourself.

God is for you, not against you. He has a wonderful plan for your life. The opinions and criticism of those in the stands mean absolutely nothing.

Run YO race.

Break the cycle.

Be the difference.
