What Are You Speaking Against?
I recently had a conversation with a woman who was full of negative confessions. She’s in the process of selling a house, yet she spent an hour telling me all the reasons why it wouldn’t sell.
I paused and asked her, “Then why is it even listed? Give me three reasons why it will sell.”
She hesitated, but eventually came up with three solid reasons.
“Now, hold onto those,” I said. “When the negative thoughts come, cast them down with the positive ones.”
Believe it or not, what you’re seeing in your life is a result of self-defeating words and thoughts.
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. — Proverbs 23:7
That’s not just good advice—that’s Bible. God Himself functions this way, and He created Adam (and us) to function the same. So ask yourself: Where did I come from?
If you were created in His image, then it only makes sense that your life flows from your thoughts. Nothing “just happens.”
The Word tells us we can be transformed—how? By the renewing of our minds. But let’s be clear: God won’t do this for you.
He said you do it.
So how can you say, “I’m healed,” but meditate on sickness all day?
How can we claim, “I’m blessed,” but keep rehearsing conversations filled with lack and struggle?
A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. — James 1:8
Double means two. You can’t walk in two directions at once. You can’t dwell on two thoughts at the same time.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
— Romans 12:2 (KJV)
You have to be solid—firm—on the thought you want to see come to pass. That thought has to be your only focus. No backup plan. No wavering.
Focus on the thing.
Thank God for the thing.
Think about the thing.
And before you know it, you’ll be walking in that very thing.
You can’t say you want to sell a house, and then fill your speech with why it won’t sell.
So let me ask you:
What in your life are you praying for—but speaking against?
Let’s Pray:
Father,
Thank You for the power of life and death that rests in my tongue. Forgive me for the times I’ve spoken against what I’ve been praying for. Today, I choose to align my words with Your Word.
Help me to cast down every negative thought and every imagination that tries to exalt itself above the knowledge of who You are and what You’ve promised me. I declare that I have the mind of Christ. I will no longer be double-minded or unstable, but rooted and grounded in faith.
Let Your truth renew my mind daily. Let Your Word be the foundation of my thoughts, and may my speech reflect the promises I believe in.
From this day forward, I will speak life. I will speak healing. I will speak breakthrough. I will speak faith—because I trust You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
